3 Days Rwanda Gorillas and Bisoke Hiking Tour

Tour Overview

3 days Rwanda gorillas and Bisoke hiking tour is a short safari favouring travellers who want to combine gorilla trekking and hiking experience. This safari will expose you to Rwanda’s culture where you will visit the Iby’iwacu cultural village where Rwandan culture is exhibited in Volcanoes National Park.

 Besides the mountain gorillas, Volcanoes National Park is home to golden monkeys, forest elephants, buffaloes, over 300 bird species, and sitatungas among other wildlife species. Volcanoes National Park is close to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park and Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park in Uganda. 

Mountain Bisoke is another famous mountain that gives the best hiking experience and breathtaking views.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: City tour and transfer to volcanoes

On this day, our company representative will pick you up from the Airport/hotel in the morning to start your 3 days of Rwanda gorillas and Bisoke hiking. He will greet you, take you through the itinerary and then embark on a half-day city tour. You will visit the Kigali genocide memorial centre where you will be told about what caused the 1994 genocide, here you will visit different local markets, the presidential palace and so many artisans. 

Lunch will be served in Kigali city thereafter, hit the road to Volcanoes National Park where you will be amazed by the rolling hills that make up Rwanda and you will know why it is called a land of Thousand Hills. 

After arriving in the park in the evening, you will connect to your lodge accommodation, check in and then visit Iby’iwacu cultural village also known as the gorilla guardian village. You will be welcomed by songs of joy and happiness, dances and cheerful people. They will be taking you through their ancient culture, and stories among other tales. You will later retire to the lodge for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Mountain Bisoke hiking

On the 2nd day of 3 days, you will wake up for a scrumptious breakfast, get your hiking gear and be transferred to the park headquarters where you will be given the guidelines about hiking, thereafter, be transferred to the hiking starting point, and set off for the great heights.

 Hiking mountain Bisoke will take you about 4-6 hours and the reward will be awesome. While at the peak, you will spot the amazing Crater Lake and the great view of Virunga National Park in D.R Congo, Rwenzori Ranges and Mgahinga in Uganda. You will take as many pictures and videos as you can, and you will later descend to the starting point where you will meet your driver guide who will be waiting to transfer you back to your lodge. 

Where you will freshen up, have dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking and departure

Unfold your day with a scrumptious breakfast, then be transferred to the park headquarters where you will be given a brief about gorilla trekking etiquette. It is here where you will be assigned the gorilla family to track then hit the jungle with a ranger guide who will help you to locate gorillas. 

You will have a chance to spend an hour with gorillas enjoying how they feed their young ones, baby gorillas will be playing, and enjoy the sweet melodies that will birds will airing out. After this great experience, you will head to the park headquarters where you will be granted a gorilla tracking certificate and then head to the lodge to freshen up and depart Volcanoes National Park and head back to Kigali for a flight back home or to other errands.
