Overview.
The safari will start and end in Rwanda and it will take you through the Kahuzi-Biega National Park in Democratic Republic of Congo. In this park, you will trek to visit the lowland gorillas which are different from mountain gorillas. The tour will take you to two countries and that is to say Rwanda and Congo.
While in Rwanda, you will have a short city tour and here, you will visit the national museum, Rwanda genocide memorial center, and local craft market among other beautiful activities.
Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Transfer to Kahuzi-Biega National Park.
You will be picked from the hotel in Kigali by our company representative after delicious breakfast and transfer you to Congo. You may have a city tour in Kigali where you will visit places like the national museum, Rwanda genocide memorial center, and local craft markets, among others. Proceed to Rusizi boarder and upon your arrival, you will check in your hotel for accommodation.
Day 2: Low land gorilla trekking and transfer back to Kigali-Rwanda.
Transfer to the Tshivanga Station for briefing after breakfast. At this point, you will be informed about the dos and don’ts while trekking these lowland gorillas. Immediately after the briefing, you will be escorted by the park ranger into a narrow path jungle in search for the endangered lowland gorillas.
Trekking time depends on the location of these apes and this is because, they keep moving in search for food but may range between 2-7 hours. After locating a family of gorillas, you will be given strictly an hour as you take photos and record memorable videos. You will alter return to the hotel/accommodation facility for your hot lunch as you prepare for a journey back to Kigali.
You will be dropped to a hotel or Kigali international airport late in the evening and this will be the end of the tour.
