Organized by the Uganda Tourism Board, the 8th edition of Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo (POATE) is happening in Kampala, the capital city of Uganda. This annual event is scheduled to take place from 23rd to the 25th of May 2024 at Speke Resort Munyonyo. This year’s theme is “Responsible Tourism,” which reflects Uganda’s commitment to safeguarding its natural heritage.
The Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo 2024 brings together stakeholders from across the globe to interact or network with investors, suppliers, buyers in the global tourism business. Both leisure and MICE tourism is expected to blend in a perfect way, with a direction more focused towards global emerging trends. This provides a stronger platform for Uganda to showcase its tourism potential while fostering cooperation among local and international stakeholders in the tourism industry.
To participate in this year’s event, you need to visit the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo website to ensure that you register for the event. Speke Resort Munyonyo is located in Makindye division in Kampala, about 12.3 kilometers from the city center. The road trip to the venue will take you about 30 minutes on Lukuli road. You also need to dress in business casual attire, or any other fashion recommended by the event organizers. The event will feature a combination of exhibitions, workshops, and seminars.
Weather conditions in Kampala are favorable enough for you to attend the Pearl of Africa in late May without much worries. For instance, the month of May marks the end of the rainy season that started in March. The rainfall patterns during this month are characterized by reduced rainfall, with an average of 12 rainy days. This decrease in rainfall makes it an excellent time for outdoor events, thus reducing the likelihood of any cancelation or disruption due to a heavy downpour. Also, in Kampala, the average temperature patterns in the month of May range from 18o C (64o F) TO 22o C (72oF). These moderate temperature conditions are ideal for outdoor events and activities such as exhibitions, conferences and other activities without extreme heat or cold.
