Overview 

The 5 days gorillas & wildlife tour in Uganda combines savanna and forest wildlife encounters. It starts with wildlife/game viewing in Queen Elizabeth National Park, Uganda’s 2nd biggest park with a land area coverage of 1978sq.km. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park will be your iconic destination to enjoy a guided mountain gorilla trekking experience.

At Queen Elizabeth NP, you will enjoy the most of a game drive along Kasenyi Plains, a rich area with buffaloes, elephants, antelope families, lions, warthogs, leopards, and birds. Combine big game encounter with aquatic life sightings along Kazinga Channel while on a boat cruise. 

Bwindi lies in far Southwestern Uganda and this is where over 459 endangered mountain gorillas reside. It is 331sq.km tropical forest-dominated protected area, established in 1991, and shelters 120 mammal species. Bwindi gorilla trekking adventures are conducted in the 4 regions -Buhoma, Rushaga, Nkuringo, and Ruhija where the park’s 20 habituated families of mountain gorillas live. 

Detailed Itinerary 

Day 1: Pick & start your trip to Queen Elizabeth National Park 

At your comfortable accommodation, breakfast will be provided to you. After breakfast, meet your team leader/company representative for a briefing about this incredible trip in Uganda and you will set off to your first destination that is Queen Elizabeth National Park. 

You will spend about 6-7 hours driving and a stopover at the Equator crossing then proceed to Queen Elizabeth N/Park located in Western Uganda. Late lunch will be enjoyed at the lodge that is if you don’t have en route lunch. Relax at your luxurious lodge, enjoy the view of the park and keep an eye on some of the wildlife species that roam around. 

Day 2: Game drive, launch cruise- Queen Elizabeth Park 

After breakfast, expect to set off for an early morning game drive along the Kasenyi Plains/sector. This activity takes 2-3 hours, but guarantees you plenty of wildlife encounters including buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, lions, birds, leopards, and more, then drive back to enjoy a relaxed lunch. 

In the afternoon, proceed to Kazinga channel to enjoy a boat/launch cruise taking 2-3 hours. Expected wildlife encounters on the Kazinga channel launch trip include hippos, crocodiles, birds, plus elephants, buffaloes, and a lot more. 

Day 3: Ishasha game drive en route to Bwindi National Park 

Enjoy an early morning breakfast, after, transfer to the Ishasha sector where you will have a chance to encounter the tree climbing lions, plus other wildlife. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed or have it at Savanna Resort Hotel en route to Bwindi. In East Africa, tree climbing lions live in only Uganda in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth NP and Tanzania in Lake Manyara N. Park. A relaxed dinner and comfortable overnight stay will be at a classic lodge in Bwindi NP.

Day 4: Tracking Gorillas + Batwa cultural tour 

Wake up early, enjoy a delicious breakfast, and after, proceed to a briefing area to meet the park official. Bwindi NP has 4 gorilla trekking regions (Buhoma, Nkuringo, Ruhija and Rushaga), and strictly one gorilla family will be assigned to you. A single gorilla group is visited by a maximum of 8 guests per day and a trek can last for 2-6 hours. Bottled drinking water and energy-giving snacks shouldn’t be left out on the actual gorilla trek because this is an unpredictable adventure. 

One hour will be spared for you to stay with mountain gorillas and this is meant for you to take pictures, learn more about their behaviors, and so much more. Retreat after your encounter with these large apes, relax and end the day in a special way with a cultural tour in the Batwa pygmies’ community. 

Day 5: Get back to Kampala/Entebbe city 

Early in the morning, a delicious breakfast will be served to you, and later, you will check out of the lodge. Return to Kampala/Entebbe with en route lunch expected to be had at a hotel in Mbarara then proceed to Mpambire Drum Makers or drive straight to a hotel in Kampala/Entebbe city and today marks the end of the 5 days gorillas & wildlife tour in Uganda.
