A great opportunity to trek the Uganda’s primates that is chimpanzee and gorillas in 3 national parks and those are queen Elizabeth, Kibale and Bwindi National parks. The tour involves game drives and long distance drives like from Kampala to Bwindi and also from Kibale national park to back to Kampala.
A stunning view and beautiful tea, banana plantations are observed while on road trip such as the Kigezi highland in Kabale and tea plantations in fort portal among others.
Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi national park from Kampala.
On the arrival, meet and greet your driver guide who will brief you about the safari and immediately start the 6 days tour in an air conditioned car with a bottle of water. Transfer to Bwindi national park located at the boarder of Uganda and Rwanda bordering Kanungu, Kabale and Kisoro districts. The journey can take 8-9 hours of driving, depending on the speed and stop overs.
But you will get an enroute lunch in Mbarara as you enjoy the Ankole traditional dances and culture. Proceed with the journey to Bwindi as you enjoy beautiful scenery such as the Kigezi highlands and cattle farms. Arrive at the accommodation facility for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable national park.
An amazing and memorable day starts with breakfast and then head for a short briefing where you will be instructed with the dos and don’ts while trekking. You will be grouped in a group of 8 people to trek one gorilla family in the forest. This helps to avoid the habituated gorillas not to get used to human beings behaviours. Start the trek with the help of the armed park ranger to protect you in case of any danger.
Trekking can take 2-5 hours depending on where you locate these great apes due to their movements in search for food. An hour will be given to you after locating them to enjoy them as you take photos and videos. After you will trek out of the forest and meet your driver to transfer you to the lodge.
In the evening you may take a community tour around and mix and mingle with the Bakiga and Batwa communities; enjoy their dance and artwork. Return to the lodge for another night late evening.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park.
On this 3rd day, have breakfast and transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park for another exciting activity after a cup of coffee/tea. The journey will start between 8-9am and it can take about 4 hours depending on the speed.
The journey will reward you with a game drive in Ishasha southern sector which will give you a chance to spot a number of animals such as buffalos, elephants, antelopes, but most importantly the tree climbing lions. In case you arrive early, you may take a boat cruise along Kazinga channel.
Day 4: Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura and transfer to Kibale
An exciting day starts with breakfast as you head to the briefing point about chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura gorge. Trekking takes 2-4 hours and after you will transfer to Kibale National park for the next activity the following morning.
The Kyambura sector is located just on the edge of Queen Elizabeth national park and is well known for homing our cousins-chimpanzees and over 8 other primate species, about 100 tree species, and up to 350 bird species.
Day 5: 2nd chimpanzee trekking adventure in Kibale National Park.
The 5th day comes with another chimpanzee trekking in Kibale national park in western Uganda after your breakfast. It also starts with a short briefing in Kanyanchu tourist center, and later head to the forest. Enjoy the chimps for an hour as they play, laugh and groom their children.
Trek back to the information center to meet your driver guide and transfer you to the lodge for lunch. Optional activities can be carried out after lunch like Bigodi wetland / community walks, Crater Lake explorations, cold spring visit and top of the world hiking among others.
Day 6: Transfer back to Kampala.
This will be the last day of your safari and it will start with breakfast and a road trip back to Kampala city. Upon arrival, you will be dropped either at the hotel or Entebbe airport to catch your next flight.
