All travelers visiting the tranquil Kibale Forest must reach the Kanyanchu, the initial starting point for chimpanzee tracking in Kibale Forest National Park.

Situated right in the heart of Kibale, the Kanyanchu chimpanzee sector is just a few kilometers away from the beautiful city of Fort Portal, making its access way easier. Kanyanchu is the most exciting spot for all chimpanzee trekking activities in Kibale forest. Kibale homes over 30% of the 5,000 chimpanzee individuals sheltered in Uganda.

After the briefing, guests are led into the wilderness of Kibale in the company of an experienced tour guide who is well versed in the behavior of these primate species and anticipation of their location, a park ranger on the other hand ensures security, especially from potential threats of other animals within the region.

Up to 2 chimpanzee tracking sessions are carried out in this park, one in the morning around 8 am, and the other in the afternoon around 2 pm, all these sessions commence from the Kanyanchu chimpanzee sector. Depending on the location of these playful primate species, and other factors like the condition of the Weather, chimpanzee trekking can take about 2 to 5 full hours. This whole process is just an exciting one, though quite challenging considering it involves long nature walks, small hikes, and other related factors.

Several other primate species like vervet monkeys, olive baboons, black and white colobus monkeys, and blue and red-tailed monkeys can also be sighted while chimpanzee tracking. Comely tree species supporting shelters for these primates can also be sighted along with other wildlife species like antelopes, impalas, and more.
