These 4 days flying gorilla habituation safari will offer a thrilling time in the forested ecosystem of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Bwindi is renowned worldwide for its highest population of the critically endangered mountain gorillas. Gorilla habituation happens from the Rushaga sector, in the south of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

The 4 days tour also brings you face-to-face with the Batwa Pygmies, one of the most beautiful and unique people in Uganda. The Batwa people are the ones who occupied the forest until it was gazetted as a national park in the early 90s. They offer the rare opportunity of expressing their cultural tapestry through entertainment and storytelling, etc.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival and pick up from Entebbe

A dedicated driver guide from Standard Safaris will meet and greet you upon your arrival at Entebbe International Airport. Once you are briefed, the guide will drive you to your pre-booked hotel. You will check in and relax at the poolside to enjoy the evening breeze. Have your dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2: Fly to Kisoro airstrip from Entebbe airport. Afternoon tour to Batwa communities

Wake up for an early morning breakfast at the hotel. The guide will take you back to Entebbe International Airport. You will fly to Kisoro Airstrip, which is the closest to Bwindi’s Rushaga sector. Another representative from Standard Safaris will meet and greet you upon your arrival. Then you will be transferred to your pre-booked lodge. Check into your lodge. Have dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 3: Gorilla Habituation experience in Rushaga sector

Wake up early in the morning and have your breakfast. Pack lunch and head to the Rushaga sector at around 6:00 a.m. You will be briefed by the Uganda Wildlife Authority staff. With armed rangers and researchers, you will head into the forest. The aim is to locate a semi-habituated gorilla group and spend 4 hours in their presence.

After finding them, take photos and learn something about their behavior in the wild. Return to the starting point and meet your driver. You will return to your lodge to freshen up. Spend the rest of the day soaking in the tranquillity of the forest. In the evening, have dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Fly back to Entebbe International Airport

Wake up and have breakfast. Check out of the lodge and head to Kisoro Airstrip. Fly back to Entebbe International Airport. The flight again takes 1 hour and 15 minutes. You will then end your 4 days flying gorilla habituation safari in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. You will be warmly seen off as you board your flight back home.
