TRIP DETAILS
Day 1: Travel to Bwindi impenetrable national park
Upon arrival at Kigali international airport, or after breakfast from the hotel where you spent the previous night, our driver guide picks you to start the journey to Bwindi impenetrable national park. The journey goes through the breathtaking countryside landscape of Rwanda, the land of a thousand hills.
Cross to Uganda through Katuna border post, giving you spectacular views of the Virunga ranges. Arrive at the lodge in the afternoon for check in, relax the whole afternoon or take a community walk to visit the native Batwa people who live just at the edge of Bwindi forest. Enjoy their traditional songs, dances and they will narrate their history when they used to live in this forest.
You will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay as you prepare for the next big day.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and travel back to Kigali
Today requires you to wake up very early for a heavy breakfast and set to the park headquarters for a simple briefing from the local park ranger. He takes you through the dos and don’ts while trekking the gorillas. You will be divided into groups of eight trekkers to visit a single gorilla family per day.
Gorilla trekking in Bwindi impenetrable forest national park takes you to the impenetrable forest on foot, hiking to different elevations, vegetation zones and terrains just in search of the big apes in the forest. Spend only one hour in the presence of the gorillas as you take pictures and learn about their amazing behavior. After an hour, slope back to the headquarters to pick your certificate of participation that shows that you are among the few lucky people who have trekked the mighty gorillas in their natural habitat.
Return to the lodge for check out and immediately depart back to Kigali. Arrival will be in the evening at either the lodge where the guide picked you from or to the airport for your flight back home.
