Visiting and filming Mama Uganda (Mariam Nabatanzi), the most fertile woman in the world is an extraordinary experience. Born on December 25, 1980 Mariam Nabatanzi now resides in Mukono district, in the central part of Uganda. Mama Uganda is popularly known among the locals as ‘Azalla Banna’ which translates as “one who produces 4 children per pregnancy.” She produced 44 children by the age of 40. This is because she has given birth to quadruplets, over 3 times. Moreover, she has also given birth to more than 2 quintuplets, triplets and twins.
Following the passing away of some of her kids, she is now left with 38. Her first child was at only 13 years of age. The eldest child is now over 30 years old and the youngest, below 7. Majority of her children underwent normal delivery at home, with the help of her grandmother, a traditional midwife. Sadly, her grandmother passed away and she had to start giving birth in the medical center. It is from there where her latest delivery was Cesarian. However, producing multiple children in a pregnancy is mostly caused by hyperovulation. This is caused when the ovary releases multiple eggs in a menstrual cycle.
Fortunately, in 2019 Mama Uganda underwent a medical procedure to prevent further pregnancies. This was deemed necessary to reduce the risks of uterine fibroids. Nevertheless, Mama Uganda is still a single mother after her husband abandoned her fearing responsibilities. Back then, her 45-year-old husband married a 12 year-old Mariam Nabatanzi. This happened because her father offered her for marriage due to the benefit of bride price offered. She is not aware of where her husband is. Chances that he lives with another woman/women since he is polygamous, and has been before the marriage to Nabatanzi.
Even as a low income earner who works multiple jobs, Mama Uganda strives to take care of her family. She ensures that they feed thrice a day. Nabatanzi also pays their school fees, though occasionally fails to raise the money. This affects their schooling. When it comes to treatment, she utilizes both modern and herbal medicine for the family. Some of her grandchildren also live with her. It is important to know that some of her children have produced twins like her. One of her sons has 10 kids already. Witness all these while visiting and filming Mama Uganda (Mariam Nabatanzi), the most fertile woman in the world.
