Mountain Biega is a dormant volcano standing at 2,790 meters above sea level. It is part of the Kahuzi-Biega National Park in eastern Democratic Republic of Congo. Mount Biega is found in the Mitumba mountains along the Western Rift Valley also known as the Albertine Rift. Mount Biega is rich in biodiversity with numerous mammal, bird, and plant species. Mammals include the iconic eastern lowland gorillas, bush buffaloes, giant forest hogs, bush elephants, bongos, owl-faced monkeys, and olive baboons. From Kigali the capital city of Rwanda, you will be transferred by road transport across the border with the Democratic Republic of Congo via Bukavu. This is a 308-kilometer scenic journey taking around 7-8 hours.
