Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Victoria Falls in Zambia / Zimbabwe.

Did you know that you can combine Uganda Gorilla Trekking and Victoria Falls Safari?

Victoria Falls is one of the largest waterfalls on earth and is situated right at the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia. It is also known as Musi a Tunya which means the smoke that thunders and it is part of the Zambezi River that makes the natural border of these two countries where the falls straddle the western part of Zimbabwe and Eastern Zambia.

Victoria Falls has a width of 1,708 meters and during the wet season, its water spray can go up to 400 meters and can be sighted from up to 48 kilometers away. Victoria Falls spray, waterfalls, rainbows, mist and its geological features are exceptionally attractive. It is one of the most spectacular waterfalls in the world.

Victoria Falls is twice the height of Niagara Falls making it the biggest sheet of water in the world. It was recognized among the seven natural wonders and was declared a heritage site in the year 1989. Its history traces way back from the ancestral days and therefore is full of informative history and mystery. David Livingstone was the first European to cross Africa from south to North in the year 1855 November that discovered the waterfalls to European eyes after he was taken on a canoe by the local people of Makololo people right at the edge of this waterfall and later named it “Victoria” his Queen back home.

The Scottish explorer was overly amused and surprised by the beauty of these waterfalls and wrote that no one in Europe knew about these mighty falls. Dr. Livingstone was much of a religious man and thus concluded that angels must be admiring this physical attraction every time they fly by. Victoria Falls was less known in the year 1905 that’s when it gained fame and limelight as a Bulawayo railway was constructed.

THE BEST TIME TO VISIT VICTORIA FALLS.

Victoria Falls is an all-year tourism destination. However, the best time to visit the Mighty Falls is February, March, April, and May after the summer rains are done so travelers can have a breathtaking experience while having the most spectacular views and full experience of the largest sheet of water flowing. All travelers are strictly advised to avoid visiting the Victoria

falls between October and November right away after the dry winter season when the weather is characterized by hot and humid conditions and the water levels have reduced making it risky for swimming.

Travelers who carry a passion for white water rafting can visit Victoria Falls when the Zambezi River has already begun to rise from all the summer water in January. White water activities continue up to May however this time around rafters are advised to take good care of themselves and watch out as the falls now have increased in the water volume with thunderous falls that can be heard miles away. The popular stunning lunar rainbow can be sighted in July.

The thunderous flows of Victoria Falls reduce their speeding flow in October and the month is considered the driest month of the year since water has reduced as a result of the past dry months and it is normally a taboo to get into these waters during this period as the water flows are at their lowest with reduced water levels. November is quite an awesome month since there’s now growing lush vegetation and most of the water sources are filling up but still not the best time to visit the Mighty Falls as it takes a long for the water to make its way back to Victoria Falls. December is considered the best month to sight stunning bird species and animal life at the falls.
