Itinerary Overview.

The 5 Days Gorilla Trekking Circuit Safari takes you to the 3 top-rated gorilla trekking destinations in Rwanda and Uganda and exposes you to the incredible rain forest activity- Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, Mgahinga Gorilla and Bwindi National parks in Uganda.

Trek mountain gorillas thrice and also enjoy a remarkable encounter with the Batwa community of Bwindi and a city tour in Kigali city.

Day 1- Drive to Volcanoes National park. Optional visit to Ibyiwachu Cultural Village.

Upon your arrival at Kigali International Airport, our representative who can alternatively pick you from your hotel will meet you; he will brief you about the tour and after a briefing, visit the genocide museum and enjoy a city tour and lunch in Kigali.

After lunch, depart on scenic drive North West wards through the beautiful terraced hillsides that display Rwanda’s landscape. You will check in at your lodge for an overnight and if time allows, visit the Ibyiwachu cultural village.

Day 2- Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes National Park and cross to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park.

After breakfast, transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for gorilla trekking. You have a briefing by the head ranger then drive to the trailhead for the start of your amazing Gorilla Tracking adventure. Your trek starts in the cultivated foothills of the Virunga offering stirring views in all directions.

When it enters the national park, you will be immersed in the mysterious intimacy of the rainforest with the colorful birds and their calls, chattering golden monkeys among other life that calls the park home. Upon sighting the gorillas, you will stay with them for an hour as they go about their daily life, feeding, playing, resting; raising their young.

After the trekking, the driver guide will transfer you to your lodge for lunch. After lunch, you will drive to Mgahinga about 40km from Volcanoes National Park. Check in at your lodge for an overnight stay.

Day 3- Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga and transfer to Bwindi National Park.

After an early morning breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing about the dos and the don’ts during your gorilla trek. Once this is done, you will trek through this thick forest and undergrowth with your guides to find the mountain gorillas, which can take you from half an hour to three-quarters of the day.

As you trek, you are likely to see other primates, birds and unique tree species and other plant life. You will be allowed to spend one hour with the mountain gorillas before trekking back to the park headquarter. After tracking, the head guide awards you a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking. After return to the lodge, refresh and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National park. 

Day 4- Gorilla trekking in Bwindi and community visit.

After an early morning breakfast, drive to the park headquarters for briefing on the dos and don’ts during this activity and thereafter you will proceed for gorilla trekking. The tracking normally lasts between 2 to 8 hours or even a day to encounter the gorillas so it is advisable that you carry packed lunch, because at times it may take long to get to the gorillas because of their movements. You will be permitted to stay in the presence of these stunning primates for at least one hour. After trekking, return for the lodge.

If time and energy allow, you may take a community tour to visit the legendary Batwa communities dwelling on the edge of the forest.

Day 5- Transfer to Kigali and departure.

You will have a morning breakfast and then transfer to Rwanda, which will take you roughly 3 hours via Kisoro – Cyanika border. Upon reaching Kigali, you will have lunch and our guide will drop you at the airport for your departure or extension.
