7 Days Bwindi Gorillas Uganda & Serengeti Wildlife Safari

This trip has both the gorilla trekking experience and the big five wildlife viewing experience in Serengeti national park. The seven days’ safari starts in Kigali city in Rwanda and ends in Arusha in Tanzania. Be guaranteed to see the gorillas in Uganda’s Bwindi impenetrable forest national park and numerous wildlife species in one of the natural wonders of the world; Serengeti national park.

Safari in details.

Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and hotel transfer.

On arrival at Kigali international airport, our experienced driver guide welcomes you, briefs you about the whole trip and then transfers you to the lodge where you will spend this night. Drive through Kigali city at your pace, arriving at the hotel for just dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Travel from Kigali to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park.

The guide picks you from the hotel after breakfast in the morning. He transfers you to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park, the great home of mountain gorillas. Drive to southwestern Uganda, passed several mountains, enjoying the beautiful views of the scenery and the amazing people along the way.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking and Batwa community tour.

Just after breakfast, proceed to the park headquarters for a simple briefing about gorilla trekking from the local park rangers. He will briefly take you through the guidelines of gorilla trekking, divide you into groups of eight trekkers and then hit the forest. The time for trekking the gorillas is unpredictable, it takes about 2 to 6 hours, depending on the movement and location of the gorillas.

Trekking can sometimes be hectic, but on the glimpse of the gorillas, it all becomes worth. Spend an hour in close proximity with the apes, watching them feed, play and carry on their daily lives.

In the afternoon after lunch, enjoy a cultural treat with the Batwa pygmies. You will be entertained by the traditional performances, taste the local cuisines and have personal interactions with the forest people. You can buy hand craft souvenirs for remembrance.

Day 4: Travel back to Kigali and fly to Arusha.

Early morning, have breakfast and travel back to Kigali to catch up with your flight to Arusha. In Arusha you will be welcomed by our experienced Tanzanian safari guide who will transfer you to a hotel where you will have dinner and spend the overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Serengeti NP.

Have breakfast at the lodge and start the journey to Serengeti national park (5-6 hours). Drive at your convenience, having several stopovers at places of interest for pictures and enjoying the beautiful views of the golden landscape. Arrival is in the evening for dinner.

Alternatively, you can undertake an evening game drive to admire the beautiful sunset of Serengeti and view numerous herds of big mammals returning to their hideouts.

Day 6: Full day game drive.

Today you enjoy a full day game drive in Serengeti national park. Sights of almost every wildlife species is guaranteed; the lions, buffaloes, cheetahs, elephants, rhinos, gazelles, wildebeests, warthogs, antelopes, zebras, giraffes and so many others.

Lunch will be in the wild after which you will head to the migration trail to view the great wildebeest migration to see thousands of animals move from one place to the other in search of food and water. In the evening you will drive to the Maasai community to have a cultural encounter with the Maasai people. It’s worth an evening.

Day 7: Depart Serengeti and travel back to Arusha.

Have breakfast check out of the lodge and travel back to Arusha. It is still an interesting journey full of sights and views of Tanzania’s countryside. The guide takes you to any hotel of your choice or to the airport for your exit flight. That will be the end of your 7 days Uganda gorillas and Serengeti safari.

We went on a two-week trip with my family, organised by Coleb from Standard Safaris.I had my concerns about organised trips, but this one didn’t justify any of those. Everything went very smoothly, even when some problems arose with one of the cars it got fixed by next morning, the accomodations were clean and comfortable, the programs were exciting and well-balanced - everything was done to a truly high standard.If you plan to visit Uganda and are looking for a guide, I warmly recommend Coleb and his team. In case you have a choice of drivers, go for Godwin, his presence made this trip even more enjoyable - cheerful, helpful, good sense of humour, generally a great person. Just look for the guy with a big smile and big heart:)

We are all extremely grateful Standard Safaris for an incredible East Africa experience. I recently booked a custom trip for group of 8 people, including an 8-year-old boy, from Kampala through Queen Elizabeth National Park and on to Rwanda and Burundi. Very organized travel operator who chose awesome guide to make our trip wonderful.We booked a nine days trip with Standard Safaris and all was perfect from start to finish. This is so far the best gorilla trekking company in Uganda, and africa, by far.
