Overview.
The safari will take you to Bwindi national park in Uganda and Masai Mara in Kenya and it will reward you with wildlife, scenery and culture of the two countries. Visit the cities of Kampala and Nairobi. A lot of game will be viewed such as the mountain gorillas, lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard among others.
Detailed itinerary.
Day 1: Arrive in Entebbe airport and transfer to Bwindi NP
Our representative will pick you up from an agreed location in Kampala or Entebbe airport and transfer you to Bwindi impenetrable national park with a stopover at the equator in Kayabwe for photos and lunch in Mbarara town. Proceed to Bwindi arriving late afternoon with a stunning view of Kigezi highlands.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and community visit
A great experience and memorable day starts with breakfast and then head for a short briefing where you will be instructed with the dos and don’ts while trekking. You will be grouped in a group of 8 people to trek one gorilla family in the forest. This helps to avoid the habituated gorillas not to get used to human beings behaviors. Start the trek with the help of the armed park ranger to protect you in case of any danger.
Trekking can take 2-5 hours depending on where you locate these great apes due to their movements in search for food. An hour will be given to you after locating them to enjoy them as you take photos and videos. After you will trek out of the forest and meet your driver to transfer you to the lodge. In the evening you may take a community tour around Bakiga / Batwa homes and enjoy their traditional dance, meals and artwork.
Day 3: Transfer to Jinja
Enjoy breakfast and transfer back to Jinja town with lunch en-route in Mbarara town and a stopover at the equator for photography if you please. Proceed to Jinja past Mabira forest, tea and sugar plantations and arriving in the evening to check in the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Maasai Mara National Reserve in Kenya
You will depart Jinja early morning and embark on this full day drive to Masai Mara crossing into Kenya through Busia border and lunch enroute.
You will also have several stopovers en-route as required for photography or stretching out. Arrive Masai Mara late evening, check in and enjoy dinner and stay overnight at the booked hotel.
Day 5: Full day safari viewing in Masai Mara
Enjoy your breakfast and spend the whole day in viewing the game as you visit the Mara River where there is an accumulation of animals. You will be served a picnic lunch as you watch the crocodiles, hippos and other animals living in water.
After you will visit the Masai village and experience the Masai culture with the way they live; traditional dances and meals. In the evening, return to the booked accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Second day in Maasai Mara
Enjoy the game viewing, the Masai Mara is now the 4th preferred tourist destination in the world and the 7th wonder of the world, a home of abundance wildlife and variety that is hard to imagine.
It hosts over 450 species of animals which include lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalo, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, buffalo, leopard, many kinds of antelopes and elephants. This will reward you with a memorable experience.
Day 7: Transfer to Nairobi and departure
After breakfast, depart Masai Mara and embark on your journey to Nairobi with lunch en-route, arriving late afternoon. Drop off at the airport for your onward flight and that’s the end of your Bwindi Gorilla trekking and Masai Mara safari.
