The 1 day gorilla tour in Volcanoes national park in Rwanda starts and ends in Kigali; Rwanda’s capital. It takes you to one of Africa’s blessed homes of the endangered mountain gorillas. Almost all world travelers yearn to have the exclusive experience of trekking the gorillas in their natural habitats.
The trip starts very early in the morning (5am) with a pick up from the hotel where you slept, obviously after breakfast. The guide immediately starts driving you to Volcanoes national park as he briefs you about the whole day.
Drive through the smooth roads of Rwanda constructed amidst the rocky and mountainous terrain. It’s amazing how the roads all curl up through the valleys and hills, a scenery that is only common in Switzerland.
The journey to the park is roughly 2 hours, and on arrival, catch up with the gorilla trekking briefing at the park headquarters from a local ranger. Be divided into groups of eight, the maximum number of trekkers that is allowed to visit a single gorilla family per day.
Gorilla trekking in Volcanoes national park involves a brief hike into the thick bamboo forest, on the lower slopes of the volcanoes that nature placed in the park. When the one hour elapses, slope back to the headquarters for your certificate of participation in Gorilla trekking. Have lunch in a local restaurant close to the park and start driving back to Kigali. You will still have beautiful sights of the surrounding green environment.
