1 Day Mgahinga Gorillas from Kigali

1 Day Mgahinga Gorillas from Kigali

This amazing 1 Day Mgahinga Gorillas from Kigali both starts and ends in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital. Tourists on such a trip engage in one of Africa’s most exclusive tourism activity; gorilla trekking that most world travelers are looking up to.

The trip starts very early in the morning. The driver guide picks you the hotel you spent the previous night or the agreed meeting point. Start with a simple briefing about the whole trip and then drive to Mgahinga national park.

Because the time is limited, you won’t have a chance to drive through Kigali city at your convenience, however, you will still spot the significant beautiful and unique buildings in this clean city.

Driving to Mgahinga national park in Uganda is roughly a three-hour drive from Kigali city. Have the cross border experience in Africa as you cross boundaries from Rwanda to Uganda. The rush is to catch up with the gorilla trekking briefing at the park headquarters at 8:00am.

On arrival at the park, the local park ranger takes you through the rules and regulations of gorilla trekking. Be divided into groups of eight trekkers to see a single gorilla group in a day.

Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga national park involves a simple hike on the lower slopes of mountain Mgahinga, walking on the rugged terrain and having to avoid thorny trees. Trekkers strictly spend one magical hour with these great apes of the forest. An hour of watching them play with each other, feed, and carry on their daily lives. Nothing is so memorable like seeing a mighty silverback aggressively watch over its group.

When the one hour elapses, slope back to the park headquarters and out for the park for lunch. Lunch will be in one of the local restaurants to taste Uganda’s local cuisines and then drive back to Kigali. The journey back gives you outstanding views of the Virunga ranges and the thousand hills of Rwanda as you drive through the beautiful roads of the country rolled in hills and valleys. That will mark the end of our one-day gorilla tour in Uganda’s Mgahinga gorilla national park.
