2 Days Kibale Chimpanzee Safari

The two days strictly head to Kibale forest national park for Chimpanzee trekking. Kibale is the primate capital of the world homing more than 1000 primates in its tropical forest. On this trip you are guaranteed to track the chimps in their natural habitants; an activity so thrilling and unique.

TRIP DETAILS

Day 1: Arrival and travel to Kibale forest national park (optional Bigodi wetland tour).

Upon arrival at the airport, the driver guide will be already there waiting to receive and welcome you. Have a simple briefing about the trip movements and immediately start the journey to Kibale forest national park. It’s a five-hour journey from Kampala filled with stunning views of Uganda’s countryside. The journey to the park guarantees spectacular views of huge tea plantations that were commonly known to be the “Canadian prairies of Uganda”.

Still the adorable green lush that lies along the highway is extremely eye-catching. Arrival at the lodge is in the afternoon for lunch and optional tour to the Bigodi wetlands or a walk to the nearby crater lakes which are eye-catching! Overnight stay at the lodge in preparation for the next day.

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and travel back to Kampala

Early morning, have breakfast and head to the park headquarters to catch up with a simple briefing about chimp tracking from the local park ranger. The ranger takes you through the dos and don’ts of chimp trekking.

Then enter into the jungle and start the hunt for the chimps in their natural habitats. Trekking the chimps involves walking through the thick tropical forest following these beautiful primates, and spending one hour watching them carry on with their daily lives. Chimp trekking in Kibale takes 1 to 4 hours depending on the movement of the chimps. You will take as many pictures of the chimps as you want provided the camera has no flash.

From the forest, head back to the park station and to the lodge for lunch from where you will start the journey back to Kampala. Enjoy the five-hour comfortable ride satisfying your eyes with stunning views of Uganda’s beautiful scenery. That will be the end of the two days’ trip to Kibale forest national park.
