Tour Overview
3 days Kyambura chimpanzee trekking tour is another rewarding experience in Queen Elizabeth National Park that will drive you to Kyambura Gorge where chimpanzees dwell. Kyambura Gorge is situated in the heart of Queen Elizabeth National Park Uganda’s open savanna national park, chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura is quite different from other chimpanzee sanctuaries in Uganda in that, here you track chimpanzees alongside the big 4 of the jungle.
The big 4 of the jungle are; buffaloes, elephants, leopards and lions. On this same tour expect to engage in the Equator experience and other nice sceneries such as Twin Lakes, and Kazinga channel.
Detailed Itinerary
Day 1: Pick up and transfer to Queen Elizabeth NP
On your first leg of the trip, you will be picked up by our driver guide, who will greet you, take you through the itinerary and then hit the road to southwestern Uganda where Queen Elizabeth National Park is found. You will leave Kampala in the morning, the first stopover will be at the Equator, where you will take pictures s you stand in both hemispheres of the earth.
You will engage in the Equator experience, listen to the story and hit the road again with another stopover in Mbarara for lunch.
After lunch, you will embark on the journey to Queen Elizabeth National Park, you will have an en-route to Twin lakes that is Lake Katinda and Lake Mirambi, enjoy the scenery that these lakes offer, and thereafter embark on the journey to connect to your lodge accommodation, check-in, have dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and boat cruise
This is another eventful day where you will wake up in the morning, greet your tummy with a delicious breakfast and head to the briefing centre. Here you are told the dos and don’ts while tracking chimpanzees, and then you are also given a ranger guide who will help you to locate the chimps.
Chimpanzee trekking in Kyambura is not so hectic since they can easily be found, spend an hour with them, and take pictures and videos as you enjoy the melodies of forest birds. You will later return to the lodge, freshen up and have a hot lunch as you wait for the launch cruise in the evening that will come with its magical experience.
While you are on the cruise, expect to see buffaloes, elephants, crocodiles, hippopotamuses and so many birds that will be at the shore of Kazinga channel. You will take pictures, especially of animals and sunsets then retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Game drive and departure
Arise in the morning, grab a cup of tea/coffee and head to the jungle for a game drive to catch the animals when they are still very active. You will be welcomed by herds of elephants, buffaloes, and lions and by luck, you will see a leopard.
This is going to be a rewarding trip for you as you enjoy the sunrise over the plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park giving you breathtaking views and animals as well. In the midmorning, return to the lodge, check out of the lodge and head back to Kampala.
Lunch will be served in Mbarara, you can visit the Igongo cultural centre in case you are interested, this will mark the end of your safari.
