The safari will roll you to the highlands of Kigezi and it involves traveling long distances such as from Kampala to Kisoro and back, only one national park is visited that is Mgahinga Gorilla park but with lots of amusing experiences involved such as gorilla trekking, volcano hiking, Ankole-Kigezi museum visit, community tours among others. The tour also involves lunch en routes with stopover on amazing places such as the Uganda equator. It will last only 4 days of adventure that you need not to miss out.
Day 1: Transfer to Mgahinga N/Park.
On the arrival at Entebbe airport, you will be welcomed and be briefed by our tour driver guide who will transfer you to Mgahinga national park a journey taking 8-9 hours’ drive, passing through Mbarara, Kabale and Kisoro towns. You will have several stopovers while on the way but the major ones will be two; one at the Uganda equator in Kayabwe for experiment and souvenir buying and the second in Mbarara at Igongo country hotel for lunch and Ankole museum tour.
Later proceed to the park as you enjoy the beautiful view of terraced Kigezi highlands. Arrive late in the evening for dinner and overnight at the booked accommodation facility. This will be the end of day one.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and cultural encounter.
Start the second day with a heavy breakfast and transfer to the headquarters for briefing about the rules to follow while trekking the mountain gorillas. This can take around 40minutes, you should note that flash lights are not allowed while trekking. Enter the forest with guidance of a ranger guide to search for the great apes.
Trekking requires someone who is physically fit because it involves hiking and moving long distances between 1-8km. After locating them, you will be allowed to be with them for only an hour and later trek back for mid breakfast. In the afternoon visit the Batwa/Bakiga community for a great experience in artwork and traditional dance.
Day 3: Mt. Sabinyo volcano hiking.
Assemble at the briefing point immediately after breakfast; you will be assigned with the guide and the armed guard to protect you in case of an attack from a buffalo or an elephant. Start the hike at around 8am and you may go up to 6pm depending on the hiking speed and weather condition. You will find when your driver guide waiting for you at the starting point to transfer you to the booked lodge/camp. This will mark the end of your day 3.
Day 4: Transfer to Kampala.
Have a leisurely breakfast and transfer back to Kampala at the hotel or in Entebbe at the airport with an en route lunch. This will be the end of your 4 days’ gorillas and hiking adventure tour.
