4 days Uganda Flying Safari, double gorilla trekking.

4 days Uganda Flying Safari, double gorilla trekking.

Overview.

Take this amazing 4 days flying Safari which will take you to the two sectors of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla trekking. It will be fun-filled since you will come across other primates in addition to the gorillas including Red-tailed monkeys, blue monkeys, L’hoest’s monkeys, and others.

Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to over 600 gorilla individuals which makes it the first protected area that hosts a large number of gorillas which are almost half the number of gorillas in the whole world. This National Park is divided into four sectors – Nkuringo, Ruhija, Rushaga, and Buhoma which is the first and oldest sector. Therefore, this safari will take you to the Nkuringo and Rushaga sectors for gorilla trekking. The safari will start from Entebbe, with a morning flight to Kihihi airstrip and then back to Entebbe airport.

Detailed itinerary.

Day 1: Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Rushaga sector)

Have an early breakfast in the morning then pack your belongings and check out from your hotel to Entebbe airport. The flight takes only 1 hour 20 minutes to land at Kisoro airstrip. You will find the safari car and our company guide that will drive you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for your 4 days flying safari. Continue and check in at the booked lodge in Rushaga region.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Rushaga sector and drive to Nkuringo sector

On this day, wake up early in the morning for breakfast, then jump into your car and drive to the park offices in the Rushaga sector. Present your gorilla trekking permit to the park rangers and be grouped for trekking. Only eight people are allowed to trek a given habituated gorilla family, and a distance of 7m to 10m is maintained.

A ranger guide will lead you into the jungles to begin your search for gorillas and have a chance to trek a gorilla group. Spend one hour in the presence of gorillas, observing their social behaviors, how they groom each other, infants playing, mothers nursing and so many others.

Later travel back to the starting point to meet your safari guide and drive back to the lodge for relaxation.

Later in the afternoon, drive to Nkuringo sector which is located in the far south of Bwindi Forest ahead of another gorilla trek. It takes only one hour to drive from Rushaga to Nkuringo sector and upon arrival, check in at the booked lodge and stay for a night.

Day 3: Gorilla trekking in Nkuringo Sector

Arise early in the morning for breakfast, then set off for another gorilla trekking, to be done in a different sector and different gorilla family. Therefore, on this day set off from the lodge and drive heading to Nkuringo ranger station for another briefing session.

Trekking time is the same (2-8 hours) and social behaviors don’t change but try your chances to spot what you might have missed on the first day of trekking.

After moving back to the ranger station, meet your driver guide and transfer back to the lodge for lunch with an optional activity in the afternoon or relax.

Day 4: Fly back to Entebbe airport.

Wake up early in the morning, grab your breakfast then move around your lodge to record some birds, spot beautiful flowers, butterflies, sunbathe, and other interesting things. Check out from the lodge for a transfer to Kisoro airstrip, and fly back to Entebbe.

Depending on arrival time, you can have a short city tour around Entebbe and also visit the craft shop to buy some souvenirs to take home.
