These five days are perfectly enough to expose you to some of the most beautiful primates in the world. The trip takes you to Kibale forest national park for chimp habituation and then to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park for gorilla habituation. This trip furnishes close and personal encounters with these beautiful primates in their natural habitats.

Day 1: Travel to Kibale forest national park
In the morning be picked by our experienced driver guide from the hotel you spent the previous night. Start the journey to Kibale forest national park in western Uganda. The journey is five hours, giving you spectacular views of the green lush along the way. Drive through huge tea plantations with a beautiful scenery that was commonly known to the Canadian prairies. Lunch will be in Fort Portal town and then proceed to Kibale forest national park, arriving in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Chimp habituation
Waking up to a delicious breakfast, head to the park headquarters for a simple briefing from the local guide about the rules and regulations of chimp habituation. This is a full day activity that needs you to carry your packed lunch. Chimp habituation involves walking through the thick forest, in unclearly paved paths just in search of the apes. On meeting these beautiful primates, you will be surprised by how they are so much like humans, see how the conduct their daily lives and learn so much about them. You are allowed to take many pictures as you want, provided the camera has no flash. Returning to the lodge will be in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 3: Travel to Bwindi Impenetrable national park
Immediately after breakfast, start the journey to Bwindi national park. This is one of the only four gorilla homes in Africa and it homes more than 400 mountain gorillas. The park offers the best gorilla habituation experiences. The journey to Bwindi is an experience of its own, giving you stunning views of the Kigezi highlands and the Virunga ranges. Drive at your convenience, having several stopovers at places of interest for pictures. At the lodge, you will reach in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Gorilla habituation
Early morning, have breakfast and rush to the park station to catch up with the gorilla habituation briefing. The local guide takes you through the rules and regulations of gorilla habituation and then enter into the forest to start the experience. Gorilla habituation in Bwindi involves a simple hike to the lower slopes of the Virunga volcanoes. Walk through the slippery trails, having to pave your way out with your arm or a hand stick. On meeting the gorillas, spending four full hours in their presence, watching them conduct their daily lives and learning so much about the forest gorillas. You will take all the pictures and short videos of the gorillas as long as the camera has no flash. At the lodge you will return in the evening for dinner.
Day 5: Departure
Have breakfast and start travelling back to Kampala, to either a hotel of your choice or to the airport to catch up with your flight back home. The nine hour journey gives you clearer views of the Kigezi highlands and a stopover at the equator for pictures. Drive straight to Kampala and that will mark the end of the trip.
