These 6 days and 5 nights’ safari will take you to 3 national parks where you will be involved in different amazing activities such as gorilla and chimpanzee trekking, game drives and boat trips, visit the local communities. The trip involves stopover and lunch enroute, mostly at the equator with a wonderful and amazing activity.
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale national park
On this day, you will be welcomed by our English speaking driver guide that will later transfer you to the primate capital of the world-Kibale national park. The park is located in the western Uganda and is famously known for harbouring our cousins-chimpanzees.
It also harbours other primates such as the Vervet monkeys, L’hoest’s monkeys, colobus monkeys, grey checked Mangabeys, among others. And other tree species, butterfly species and different bird species. Get a stopover in fort portal town for hot lunch at gardens restaurant and proceed to the park after lunch to relax. This will be the end of day 1.
Day 2: Chimpanzee trekking and community visit
On this second day, drive to Kanyanchu information centre for a short briefing and later head to the forest with the help of a park ranger.
Chimpanzee trekking is an amazing activity where you will keep a smile on your face as you enjoy these primates play, lough and feed. Trekking takes 2-4 hours depending on the movements of these chimpanzees. After lunch, take a community walk nearby options; Isunga community/Bigodi community and learn the Batooro and Bakiga cultures and this will be the end of day two.
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth national park and afternoon boat cruise
Depart to Queen Elizabeth National Park after a relaxed breakfast. With attractive lakes and rich grasslands which are set deep in the crater valley in the northern side, this is truly the most breath-taking scenery in the park.
The park is home to a large variety and volume of wildlife which include Hippos, Lions, and Buffalos, Leopard, Spotted Hyena and the elusive giant forest hog. On the arrival, take lunch and head for an afternoon boat cruise along Kazinga channel with spectacular view of hippos, crocodiles and water backs at the banks of the channel. After dinner in the evening, rest and prepare for the next amazing day.
Day 4: Game drive and transfer to Bwindi national park
Wake up early and head for an early morning game drive to watch early raisers like leopard, hyenas, among others. While on the drive, you will view other animals such as elephants, buffalos among others.
Return to the lodge for mid breakfast and later transfer to Bwindi through Ishasha sector. At this point if you have more time, you may continue to track the tree climbing lions. Upon arrival in Bwindi forest, you will check in for your accommodation at the booked lodge.
Day 5: Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural encounter
You will have a hearty breakfast to give you the energy needed for gorilla tracking in the morning. Report to the headquarters at 8.00am where the ranger guides will take you through a short briefing and be divided into groups of 8 people to be able to trek these apes safely. Penetrate the impenetrable forest which is slashing at the undergrowth, parting thick creepers and track gorillas.
This trek can take from 2 to 8 hours so a reasonable degree of fitness is required as well as a sturdy pair of walking shoes because it involves hiking. You will have an hour with the gorillas as your listening to them grumble at each other and marvel at the sheer size of the dominant male, the silverback. After lunch meet the Batwa community with an amazing culture concerning the dances and the traditional meals. This will be end of day five.
Day 6: Transfer back to Kampala
Transfer back o Kampala after breakfast a journey taking 8-9hours and get a stopover in Kayabwe at the Uganda equator for experiment and lunch. You will be dropped at the hotel in Kampala or Entebbe airport. This will mark the end of the trip.
