Overview
7 day Uganda flying safari takes you through the exciting national parks of Murchison Falls, the biggest national park in Uganda, Semuliki National Park, Kibale to experience ultimate chimpanzee habituation adventures, and Bwindi to encounter the endangered mountain gorillas within their natural habitat.
Murchison Falls is a stunning destination for nature enthusiasts and safari lovers and the biggest national park known for its diverse wildlife and the majestic waterfalls on the Victoria Nile. The park hosts a variety of wildlife, bird life and primates, visitors can also enjoy activities like boat cruises, game drives and boat safaris to witness the Nile River squeezing through a narrow gorge at the falls.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is located in the southwestern part of the country bordering Rwanda and DRC; it is known for hosting almost half of the remaining endangered mountain gorillas. These primates are divided into different families each in their sector which makes this destination unique. You can trek and habituate any gorilla family of your choice within their natural habitat.
Kibale National Park is a significant destination for those interested in primates and the vibrant ecosystems in their natural habitat. The destination is also renowned for its lush tropical rainforests and notably the large population of chimpanzees. It is a prime location for primate tracking and bird watching offering a chance to encounter various monkey species and diverse avian life.
Day 1: Fly from Entebbe to Pakuba airstrip in Murchison (relax in the afternoon)
The driver will pick you up and transfer you to Entebbe after an early morning breakfast to catch your flight to Pakuba in Murchison Falls National Park.
When you reach, the driver will take you to your hotel for check-in, lunch and relax till sunset for an overnight stay.
Day 2: Game drive and boat cruise on the Nile.
After an early morning breakfast, the driver will take you to the starting point and begin your game drive. A game drive in Murchison Falls offers an exhilarating safari experience. You get to drive through the park’s diverse landscapes encountering a rich array of wildlife like African elephants, lions, giraffes and numerous antelope species.
You also get to encounter different birds like African fish eagles, goliath herons, shoebill, secretary birds, yellow-billed woodpeckers and malachite kingfishers.
You can also get immersed in the natural beauty and diverse ecosystems of the park. This is a thrilling adventure for wildlife enthusiasts seeking an authentic safari encounter.
After the game drive, you can head back to your hotel and have lunch as you prepare for the boat cruise on the Nile in the afternoon.
The boat cruise on the Nile is a captivating experience in that visitors embark on a leisurely journey along the Victoria Nile, offering unique perspectives of the park’s diverse ecosystems and wildlife. The cruise takes you past scenic landscapes, providing opportunities to observe animals like crocodiles, hippos and various bird species along the river banks.
The highlight of the cruise is approaching the base of the falls, where the Nile River is funnelled through a narrow gorge. The sheer force and beauty of the falls make this a breathtaking moment. The boat then navigates upstream, allowing passengers to appreciate the surrounding wildlife and enjoy the tranquillity of the river.
It is a serene and immersive way to explore the natural wonders of Murchison Falls National Park.
After the boat cruise, you can go back to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Visit the falls and fly to Semliki Airstrip (Road transfer to Kibale National Park)
After breakfast, check out of your hotel and head out for the visit of the falls and witness when the Nile river forces its way through a narrow gorge creating a dramatic spectacle. You are also able to feel the power of the rushing water and witness the mist that envelopes the area.
After this visit, you will be transferred to Pakuba airstrip to fly to Semliki airstrip and later transferred to Kibale National Park by road.
When you reach Semuliki Airstrip, the guide will pick you up and transfer you to Kibale National Park by road.
When you reach, check in your hotel, relax, have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Full-day Chimpanzee habituation experience.
After an early morning breakfast, pack some lunch and refreshments. The driver will take you to the park headquarters and attend the pre-habituation session. A full-day chimp habituation experience in Kibale is an immersive adventure for those fascinated by primates.
Unlike regular tracking, this extended experience allows visitors to spend an entire day with researchers and habituation experts, observing and documenting chimp behaviour as they become accustomed to human presence.
You are accompanied by experienced guides through the forest and the goal is to encounter and witness various aspects of chimp life characterized by feeding, social interaction and possibly even vocalizations. These guided share insights into chimp behaviour, ecology and conservation efforts.
The day is educational and unforgettable while in the heart of Kibale’s tropical rainforest, offering you a deeper understanding of the chimp communities and the conservation challenges they face.
After the full day of habituation, you can head back to your hotel to rest, have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5: Fly from Kasese to Kihihi in Bwindi.
After breakfast, you will be transferred to Kasese where you will fly to Kihihi in Bwindi impenetrable national park.
Upon arrival, you can check in to your hotel, have lunch, relax and overnight stay.
Day 6: Gorilla trekking.
After an early morning breakfast, the driver will transfer you to the park headquarters to attend the pre-trekking briefing session where you are told about the dos and don’ts of gorilla trekking.
After briefing, experienced guides will divide you into groups of eight and accompany you through the thick forest of Bwindi in search of these incredible primates.
Gorilla trekking can take about 2 to 3 hours depending on where they will be found because they are found moving from one place to another.
Once you get to encounter your assigned gorilla family, you are given a maximum of one hour to be with them as you closely watch their feeding behaviour and have a deeper understanding of the gorilla communities.
You are allowed to take a few snaps to keep for memories but without a flashlight. After trekking, you are required to go back to the starting point and receive a certificate of participation.
After this adventurous experience, you will then head back to your hotel for lunch and relaxation.
Day 7: Fly from Kihihi to Entebbe.
This is the last day of your 7 days in Uganda flying safari. The driver will transfer you to Kihihi after checking out from your hotel, and from there, you will fly back to Entebbe.
