Itinerary overview
This 8 days Bwindi gorilla trek and Victoria falls safari is a pure experience of Africa’s beauty and wildlife through its treasures. Gorillas are the most powerful primates on earth, possessing over 95% human-like DNA. Half of their total population can be found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the southwestern part of Uganda. Victoria Falls, described as the “thundering smoke” or “boiling water,” is found at the Zambezi River at the border of Zimbabwe and Zambia. This is the world’s largest waterfall, a perfect scenery, and one of Africa’s natural wonders. You will have a game drive at Hwange National Park and a cultural experience with the Batwa pygmies. This trip starts at Entebbe International Airport and ends at the Victoria Falls. It is a fly-in trip.
Day 1: Arrive in Uganda. Pick up from Entebbe International Airport and relax at your hotel.
After landing at the Entebbe International Airport, our company representative will meet and greet you. Providing insights into the destination and what awaits on the trip. After the talk, you will drive to your hotel around Entebbe for check-in and refreshments. If time allows, you will spend the evening at the Entebbe Botanical Gardens. The day ends with dinner and a nap at the lodge.
Day 2: Fly to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park (Kihihi airstrip)
At daybreak, you will check out of the lodge to Entebbe International Airport for a domestic 10 o’clock flight to Kihihi airstrip, where our company representative will meet and transfer you to your lodge in one of the four sectors of the park. The flight offers a quicker and eye-catching aerial view of the lush vegetation and the landscape. You will check in at the lodge, have lunch, and spend the evening relaxed. Dinner and overnight at sunset.
Day 3: Gorilla trekking and Batwa cultural tours
After an early breakfast meal at the lodge, transfer to the sector’s headquarters for a pre-trekking briefing, whereby you will be explained the trekking dos and don’ts and documents verified. The trekking session takes about 1-8 hours, plus an hour for photography, and asking the ranger guides questions. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to half of the total mountain Gorillas in the world. These are the largest and most powerful primates in the world, possessing over 95% human-like DNA. The trek is on foot, through the places they were last spotted.
Upon finding them, you have an hour of watching their unique characters, the lovely walk of the silverbacks, and the playful nature of the adolescents. Afterward, return to the lodge for refreshment and lunch. Thereafter, spend the evening with the Batwa, enjoying their songs, dances, and community walk. Dinner and overnight at the lodge at sunset.
Day 4: Fly from Bwindi (Kihihi) to Entebbe International Airport. Proceed on flight to Harare Robert Mugabe Airport, Zimbabwe.
After breakfast, you will check out of the lodge for a scenic flight to Entebbe International Airport. Have your last meal in Uganda, and board a flight to Harare Robert Mugabe International Airport, where our company representative will meet and brief you about what will transpire in Zimbabwe. After the trekking session, you will drive to your lodge for check-in, refreshment, dinner, and a nap.
Day 5: Fly from Harare to Victoria Falls. Enjoy the sunset cruise on the River Zambezi, Boma dinner, and drum show.
Brighten your morning with a delicious breakfast meal at the lodge. Afterward, get a domestic plane to the magical Victoria Falls. At Landing, our company representative will meet, greet, and transfer you to the lodge for check-in and refreshments. You will have lunch, and in the afternoon hours spend time on a sunset cruise. That will be on a wooden motorboat, identifying the pure African beauty as you watch the crocodiles, hippos, and other aquatic birds in the Zambezi River. The day ends with dinner, a drum show, and a nap at the lodge.
Day 6: Guided tour of the falls, helicopter flight, and transfer to Hwange National Park.
Start your day with a cup of coffee. Afterward, explore the different areas of the falls, including the Victoria Falls Bridge, the breathtaking gorge, and the stunning view of the Victoria Falls. Walk as you connect with Mother Nature. Enjoy rafting and paddling over the rapids. Afterward, have lunch, and you will check out of the lodge for a helicopter transfer to Hwange National Park. Arrival in the evening, check in, dinner, and a nap
Day 7: Full day game drive in Hwange National Park
At daybreak, have breakfast, and thereafter follow the different routes at the park to the animal hideouts. Some of the routes in the park are Sinamatella Loop with the lions, elephants, breathtaking scenery, and kits more. Main camp loop with, among others, the giraffe’s different antelope species, kudus, and more. Crocodile pool with the crocodiles and hippos. Main camp circuit with giraffes and kudus. Spend the whole day in the wilderness, with a picnic lunch. At sunset, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Transfer to Victoria Falls Airport for Departure
Start your day with a mouthwatering breakfast meal at the lodge. Afterward, hit the road to the airport for your flight back home or to the next destination.
