Located in Wakiso district in central Uganda, 36 km away from Kampala on a headland in Lake Victoria, is Uganda’s charming peninsular town Entebbe.
Entebbe was once the government station until independence in 1962. Entebbe in the local language means seat, which means that it was the seat for the Baganda chiefs and later became the seat of the British colonial administration in 1893.
Almost half of Entebbe’s land that is to say 26km is surrounded and covered with water bodies. The town is also home of the President of Uganda who stays at the state house.
Entebbe International Airport gets about 8 million international and local visitors per year. Opened in 1929, the airport became the main destination for international and local arrivals and departures.
The city is also known to be one of the hosts of the final resolution talks aimed at putting an end to the M23 rebellion.
It also hosts the Uganda Research Institute where research is conducted about the vaccines, initiatives and the HIV vaccine program on behalf of the United Kingdom.
Entebbe town has been considered as a great destination with many attractions where tourists are able to get occupied and enjoy the beauty of Uganda. These attractions include botanical gardens, islands, beaches, Snake Park, the reptile village, nature walks, stunning shopping malls, Ngamba chimpanzee island, and zoos among others.

Entebbe Botanical Gardens: Enjoy the stunning gardens where travelers are able to do nature walks, bird sighting and spotting monkeys. The best time to visit is during the weekdays from Monday to Friday where people are few to give one a conducive and calm environment.
One is recommended to visit Entebbe because it has one of the best beaches that help you to relax. The people who enjoy swimming, Entebbe is the best place to go. Enjoy the sunsets and the sunrises while at the beach as well as the boat cruises not forgetting the delicious meals from any of the cozy hotels like Protea Resort hotel, bar and grill. Get a chance to visit the oldest golf course that was established in 1900.
Since Entebbe is surrounded with the waters of Lake Victoria, one is able to do fishing and on a good day you can catch different fish species like the tilapia, Nile perch among others.
Get a chance to spot different birds like the shoebill, long crested eagle, active stork among others due to the fact that Entebbe is surrounded with a stunning swamp known as Mabamba.
A snake park is another attraction should visit in Entebbe. Get a chance to see various snake species like the mamba, cobra among others.
Entebbe is a very accessible town, you can get there by taxi from Kampala and the drive takes about 1 hour depending on the traffic.
