How can I reschedule a gorilla permit in Uganda?

Rescheduling Gorilla permits entails changing dates when the visitors were supposed to trek the gorillas.  The rescheduling activity aims at pushing to a later date the trekking adventure other than the previously chosen depending on the various reasons to suit the comfort of the visitors.

Gorilla trekking activities in Uganda are carried out in only two national parks of the 10 that is to say Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga National Park. Bwindi has 21 fully habituated gorilla families while Mgahinga on the other hand has only one habituated gorilla family and therefore they are free with human presence in their natural habitat. 

It is a prerequisite by the conservationists that each gorilla family should be trekked by a maximum of eight people per day partly why the rescheduling process is quite a necessity in some instances.

Process of rescheduling gorilla permits in Uganda.

The tour operators gather information from the travelers regarding the suitable dates for when they will be available for the trekking adventure. The tour operator whom the travellers booked is responsible for liaising with the Uganda Wildlife Authority reservation office staff to ensure that they get the best dates for when the visitors will go and meet the gentle giants in the jungle. 

After information from the visitors is acquired, the tour operator goes ahead to meet the officials at the reservation offices of Uganda Wildlife Authority who are responsible for rescheduling the dates of the trek. 

The tour operator provides valid reasons for why they wish to reschedule the dates.  The tour operator is required to fill a reschedule letter and attach the receipts to it before handing it in to the reservation official. 

It is always important to reschedule in time not when it is too late.  It is usually advisable to reschedule the dates a fortnight to the trekking dates you wish.  This is because it helps the tour operator avoid the risks of finding no permits, no space available to trek since the permits issued out on every date to every family are limited that is to say to 8 people per family.

How much does rescheduling gorilla permits in Uganda cost?

The rescheduling activity of the Uganda gorilla permits does not cost any amount of money. It only takes the effort to meet the reservation officials and give valid reasons as to why one wishes to reschedule the permits. 

 Why would one reschedule a gorilla permit?

There are a variety of reasons as to why one would wish to reschedule a gorilla permit. Most of these usually arise from the side of the traveller. Some of the reasons why one would reschedule a gorilla permit encompass; 

Tour operators usually reschedule gorilla permits to avoid the risk of losing money. This is because large amounts of money can be lost when the Permits are bought and the travelers don’t show up.  So in such cases, it’s always better to reschedule the trekking activity to a mutually comfortable date when the visitors will be available to trek the gorillas.

When there is no availability of space to trek, the best thing one can do is to reschedule the gorilla permit.  It is important to note that the gorilla families are strictly visited by only eight people in a day.  This therefore makes it easy for the permits to be all sold out which would require the travelers to collaborate with their tour operator and reschedule to find another comfortable date with available permits.

In instances when the guests do not show up.  Guests usually have various reasons as to why they may not show up on the once agreed trekking dates. This therefore calls for rescheduling of the gorilla permits if one is to meet the gentle giants. 

When emergencies arise, rescheduling the gorilla permits is necessary.  Emergencies may be of health,  economic and political pandemics backgrounds.  Such issues do not wait and they therefore call for rescheduling of the gorilla permits. Like of recently when the COVID pandemic hit, there were plenty of rescheduling programs for the mountain gorilla activities.

Visitors could have missed a flight.  This delay therefore makes the rescheduling of the gorilla permit a necessity. This may happen in case the guest maybe had a long night or wasn’t reminded and advised properly on how they should travel and have the favorable accommodation facilities near the airports.
