1 Day Mount Bisoke Hike

This might turn out to be the most adventurous short trip you have ever had in life. Perhaps most of the curious travelers think that one day trip cannot be as adventurous as this.

This one day takes you to Mountain Bisoke for a hiking experience. Being named the land of a thousand hills, Rwanda furnishes the best hiking experiences in the region, that even travelers with just a day on their schedule can still have this thrilling experience.

The trip will start very early in the morning at 5am with a pick from your hotel in Kigali. With a simple briefing about the day, the guide will transfer you from Kigali to Volcanoes national park where the starting point is. Be briefed by the local ranger guide and then start the hike.

Hiking mountain Bisoke is not as hectic as other volcanoes in the park. Summiting the top of the mountain takes about 3-4 hours depending on the speed of the hikers, though it needs one to be physically fit.

Don’t forget to park at least two liters of water on the hike. A rain coat and water proof hiking boots are very vital the fact that this is a mountainous area where it can rain anytime.

The hike takes you through the rugged trails, holding onto tree branches and hand sticks for support. At the top, have an outstanding view of other volcanoes in the Virunga chained mountains. Sights of the surrounding are simply beautiful to the eyes.

From here, descend back to the starting point, have lunch in a nice local restaurant around the park and then travel back to Kigali. The journey itself overs amazing views of the thousand hills of Rwanda and her amazing and beautiful people.

Arrival in Kigali will be in the evening and that will be the end of the one Bisoke hike trip.

We went on a two-week trip with my family, organised by Coleb from Standard Safaris.I had my concerns about organised trips, but this one didn’t justify any of those. Everything went very smoothly, even when some problems arose with one of the cars it got fixed by next morning, the accomodations were clean and comfortable, the programs were exciting and well-balanced - everything was done to a truly high standard.If you plan to visit Uganda and are looking for a guide, I warmly recommend Coleb and his team. In case you have a choice of drivers, go for Godwin, his presence made this trip even more enjoyable - cheerful, helpful, good sense of humour, generally a great person. Just look for the guy with a big smile and big heart:)

We are all extremely grateful Standard Safaris for an incredible East Africa experience. I recently booked a custom trip for group of 8 people, including an 8-year-old boy, from Kampala through Queen Elizabeth National Park and on to Rwanda and Burundi. Very organized travel operator who chose awesome guide to make our trip wonderful.We booked a nine days trip with Standard Safaris and all was perfect from start to finish. Coleb was very prompt at replying and easy to liaise with ahead of the trip. We had done a lot of research and had an itinerary in mind and Coleb helped us to put everything together to make this happen for a very reasonable price.  On the trip we had a private vehicle for the whole tour which was exactly what we wanted. This is so far the best gorilla trekking company in Uganda, and africa, by far.
