3 Days Nyungwe & Lake Kivu Safari

Overview.

The 4 Days take you to Nyungwe forest national park which is the largest montane forest in Central Africa with 13 species of primate with large groups of Rwenzori Colobus monkeys. You will track chimpanzees and do canopies walk from ropes suspended above the Nyungwe forest to give you a view of the forest. Then visit Lake Kivu for relaxation and water activities like boat cruise and beach experience.

Detailed tour.

Day 1: Transfer to Nyungwe forest via Butare.

Our tour guide will meet you at your hotel and transfer you to Nyungwe forest. You will drive south in the cultural corridor where you will stop and visit the Kings’ palace in Huye and then the Rwanda National museum / ethnographic museum in Nyanza. You then continue your Journey to the park and check in at the lodge in the evening

Day 2: Chimpanzee tracking and canopy walk.

Early Morning after breakfast, your driver guide will transfer you to the forest headquarters for a briefing before you enter the forest to track the communities of Chimpanzees. The trek is a walk through the huge mountainous rain forest, you will get to the chimpanzees have an hour of viewing them and photography.

And in the afternoon after you have had your lunch, participate in a canopy walk in the Igishigishi trail which is a high suspension bridge with views of the valley and entire rain forest. Return for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Transfer to Lake Kivu and boat cruise.

Early morning breakfast then transfer to Kibuye enroute to Lake Kivu. The shoreline of Lake Kivu is engulfed with beautiful white sand resorts and it is the largest water body in Rwanda. Take a boat cruise on Lake Kivu to see crocodiles and hippos as well as birds, which are endemic to this region.

You will have opportunity to interact with the fishermen as they go about their trade and participate in the fishing. In the evening you can relax by the lake as the sun sets.

Day 4: Drive to Kigali do a City tour / Departure.

This day your guide will after breakfast transfer you back to Kigali. You will visit Genocide Memorial site visit the curio markets, do shopping, and then have lunch. You will be driven to the airport, check in and catch your departure flight or connect to your next destination.

We went on a two-week trip with my family, organised by Coleb from Standard Safaris.I had my concerns about organised trips, but this one didn’t justify any of those. Everything went very smoothly, even when some problems arose with one of the cars it got fixed by next morning, the accomodations were clean and comfortable, the programs were exciting and well-balanced - everything was done to a truly high standard.If you plan to visit Uganda and are looking for a guide, I warmly recommend Coleb and his team. In case you have a choice of drivers, go for Godwin, his presence made this trip even more enjoyable - cheerful, helpful, good sense of humour, generally a great person. Just look for the guy with a big smile and big heart:)

We are all extremely grateful Standard Safaris for an incredible East Africa experience. I recently booked a custom trip for group of 8 people, including an 8-year-old boy, from Kampala through Queen Elizabeth National Park and on to Rwanda and Burundi. Very organized travel operator who chose awesome guide to make our trip wonderful.We booked a nine days trip with Standard Safaris and all was perfect from start to finish. Coleb was very prompt at replying and easy to liaise with ahead of the trip. We had done a lot of research and had an itinerary in mind and Coleb helped us to put everything together to make this happen for a very reasonable price.  On the trip we had a private vehicle for the whole tour which was exactly what we wanted. The company has very courteous tour guides with wide knowledge of fauna and frola in the whole of East Africa.The choice of safari Lodges is good with first class treatment.Game drive security is assured.Almost The whole of September I was traversing through DRC, Uganda,and Rwanda on a gorilla tour and wildlife expedition.Everything was arranged and booked perfectly by Standard Safaris.The owner, Coleb was always helpful whenever we needed to ask questions about this gorilla safari in Uganda and beyond.It was a complex expedition but Standard safaris and Coleb made it look amazingly easy.I’ll recommend Standard safaris 200%, for all gorilla safaris in Uganda, Rwanda and wildlife tours in east africa.

This is so far the best gorilla trekking company in Uganda, and africa, by far.
