Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick up and Entebbe Botanical Gardens tour

Our representative picks you up from your accommodation or at Entebbe International Airport. From there you first visit the Entebbe Botanical Gardens. This is an important tourist site situated 6.4 kilometers from the airport. Explore Uganda’s oldest botanical gardens, established in 1898 along the northwestern shores of Lake Victoria. Besides a quiet nature walk, you have plenty of species of fauna and flora to see and capture on photographs.

An introduction to 500 plant species while on a guided tour awaits you in this place. Learn more about their commercial uses especially for medicinal purposes. The bird species are include among others hadada ibis, red-chested sunbirds, and black headed herons etc. Also check out the monkeys in the trees. These include red colobus monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys and vervet monkeys.

From the gardens, drive peacefully to your accommodation in Entebbe. Check in and have dinner later in the evening. This is also where you get a peaceful sleep in the night until the next morning.

Day 2: Birding in Mabamba Wetland. End of tour

Wake up and take early morning breakfast before you check out of the accommodation. Today, you must go birdwatching in Mabamba bay. This is a Ramsar site situated along the northern shores of Lake Victoria. The wetland is just a little over 25 kilometers from Entebbe. Exploration of this pristine aquatic habitat is done on a beautiful canoe. From a landing site you will search for the key bird species, primarily the shoebill stork. Other key birds to view while birding here include slender billed weaver, fan-tailed widowbird, hadada ibis and African jacana.

The main mammal species to encounter once luck is on your side is the sitatunga. While on the canoe meet fisherfolk. Interact with them and learn more about this important source of livelihood to them. They do speak Luganda, which offers a chance for you to learn to speak some phrases in the language. Thereafter, return to the shores where your driver takes you for lunch. A drop off at your accommodation or at Entebbe International Airport will be made.
