TRIP DETAILS
Day 1: Mabamba wetland birding excursion and travel to Lake Mburo National Park.
After breakfast, be picked by your driver guide with your packed lunch so that you catch up with the Nakiwogo boat trip to Mabamba at 7:00 am. Connecting to the wetland via water is an added advantage that furnishes sights of the beautiful scenery that you would have missed out by road. Birding at Mabamba is done on a canoe for 1-3 hours, sailing through the wetland as you spot the various bird species, including the shoebill.
Then, drive to Lake Mburo National Park via the Masaka-Mbarara highway. The journey exposes you to more beautiful sights of Uganda’s countryside and the lush green that lies along the highway. Arrival is in the early evening for checking in, relaxation, dinner and overnight.
Day 2: Morning game drive and Boat cruise on Lake Mburo
Early morning, after breakfast, embark on a safari vehicle for a game drive through the park. Despite the fact that Lake Mburo National Park is a very small park, more than 50 mammal species call it home.
Sights of elands, buffaloes, zebras, giraffes, warthogs, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, duikers, and many others. The drive also gives you stunning views of the beautiful landscape of the park dotted with several wildlife species.
In the afternoon, after having a palatable lunch meal, relax off with a cool boat ride on Lake Mburo. Here, you will have more opportunities to view other wildlife species like hippos, crocodiles, sea birds and many others that come along the lake shores for drinking water.
Day 3: Departure
Have breakfast in the morning and start the journey back to Kampala or straight to Entebbe for your exit flight. You will have a stopover at the Uganda equator for pictures and the water experience to see how water swirls to different directions in the opposite hemispheres of the earth.
