4 Days Uganda Rwanda Gorilla Trek

4 days Uganda Rwanda Gorilla Trek

Tour overview.

This 4 days Uganda Rwanda Gorilla Trek will give you two experiences of a prime safari activity in Volcanoes national park and Bwindi Impenetrable National park – gorilla trekking. You will do double Gorilla tracking and have an opportunity to learn a bit about the Batwa culture by visiting the community after your gorilla experience in Bwindi N/park.

Detailed tour.

Day 1-Transfer to Volcanoes National park.

On arrival at the airport, you will find our representative waiting to welcome you to ‘the land of a thousand hills’. You will do a city tour before you proceed to Volcanoes national park. Depending on time of arrival and consequently time in the city before the drive to Musanze, you have options of places to visit which include; Kigali Genocide Memorial Center, craft markets in Kigali and the National Museum.

After the brief tour of Kigali city, you have lunch in the city then you drive to Musanze in preparation for the gorilla trekking.

Day 2-Gorilla tracking and transfer to Bwindi N/park.

Have an early morning breakfast, and then you transfer for briefing at the headquarters of Volcanoes national park. The ranger guide will give you the ways of how you to behave, what do and what you shouldn’t do while on the gorilla trek and when you come to meet these apes.

After the briefing you are distributed in different groups of 8 and allocated with gorilla families to track.  After getting to the gorillas you will be allowed maximum 1 hour for photography and face to face encounter. Later return to your lodge, refresh and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National park.

Day 3-Gorilla tracking and Batwa community visit.

Today you wake up and head to the park offices for briefing and allocation of the gorilla family that you will track. Start of at 8am after the briefing led a ranger guide. Your tracking experience will be an exciting, yet challenging, journey along forested (often muddy and slippery) slopes, tangled vines, thick vegetation and bamboo forests before you reach the territory of these gentle giants. En-route, your ranger will point out telltale signs of previous gorilla activity, like dung, nests and chewed bamboo shoots.

Depending on the location of the gorillas on any given day the walk can take anything from 2 to 7 hours. Once the family of gorillas have been located, settle in to your surroundings and enjoy the hour you have to quietly observe these fascinating primates whose habits and mannerisms remind us so much of our own. Encountering the mountain gorillas in the wild is a truly humbling and emotional experience, one that you are sure to remember for the rest of your life.

Day 4 – Transfer to Kigali and Departure.

Enjoy your last sunrise in this beautiful corner of Uganda if the weather is good. And after the guide will drive you back across the border to Rwanda and drop you off at Kigali International Airport for departure. Or you can opt for an overnight stay which we can help arrange for you at an additional cost.
