8 Days Virunga, Nyiragongo & Serengeti Safari

In this 8 days safari, you will combine two gifted destinations, The Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania, coming closer to spectacular attractions and engaging in rare but interesting activities while on the safari that takes you to Virunga National park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas, trek them and see how it feels, thereafter, hike mount Nyiragongo, the most active volcano before setting off for Serengeti national park, famous for wild beast migration, engage in game drive Visit Ngorongoro crater. The safari starts in Rwanda with a brief city excursion and more 7 days in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania where the safari finally will come to an end.  

Detailed tour.

Day 1: Pick up and Transfer to Virunga National Park.

Upon your arrival at the airport, our driver-guide will gladly receive you, going ahead to brief you on all the activities you will engage in and the destinations to be visited, this will be as the two of you are sipping glasses of juice, next, have a simple city if time allows, visiting the genocide memorial grounds where over 250,000 people were buried during the tragic genocide, have lunch and proceed with the 4-5 hours’ journey through the rolling hills towards the Virunga Mountains.

Crossing a very scenic border post, the Gisenyi Congo border with a mazing view of Lake Kivu, Rwanda’s freshest water lake, proceed with the driver arriving at the park late in the evening only to have dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Morning gorilla trekking and afternoon Cultural encounter.

Upon waking up very early in the morning, pack very strong hiking shoes, bottled water, HD cameras and many more. Head to the park headquarters for trekking briefing where the park rangers will be verifying your documents as well as telling you some of the rules to follow while in the forest with the primates. This will be done as you are enjoying a warm cup of coffee.

With the company of a park ranger and an armed security guard, move to the park for the real trekking exercise that can stretch for up to 6 hours depending on your fitness and how far the gorillas have roamed, you will be tracing them from the point they were last spotted till you find the apes, one hour is yours to study these creatures, their unique behaviors, mothers feeding the young ones, the grumbling and many more.

Descend to the park’s headquarters for lunch and relaxation, thereafter, head for village experience with the local natives who will take you through some entertaining performances till late when you will return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Hiking Mount Nyiragongo.

After breakfast, pack your Hiking boots, get a support stick and drive to Nyiragongo trailhead where the 6-7 hour hiking to the top of the summit starts, the briefing commences at 10:30 with the guides briefing the hikers on what they should expect during the journey, so ensure that by 10:00 am, you are at the destination, Mount Nyiragongo is the most active volcano with series of repeated eruptions that so massive destruction of property and displacement of locals leaving around the mountain.

Hiking it is so interesting because of the panorama of the entire Virunga National park, come across some rare bird species as well as enjoying the night on top of the mountain, have fun around the fire till late at night when the fires go off and the only thing is to sleep. 

Day 4: Descend Mount Nyiragongo and Transfer to Kigali Airport.

After breakfast, you will Descend from Nyiragongo for your second destination, Tanzania upon reaching the bottom, have some refreshment, head to the lodge, checkout and drive to Kigali international airport, but enroute, visit the country’s largest lake, Kivu as well as having lunch and proceed to the airport where you will have to board a chartered flight to Arusha Tanzania for an overnight and dinner before transferring to Serengeti national park.

Day 5: City tour and regional flight to Serengeti national park.

After breakfast, head out for a brief city tour visiting Rwanda’s independent monument and the genocide museum; then after, have lunch and embark on the journey to Tanzania’s most famous national park, Serengeti, known for hosting annual wild beast migration and home to an unnumbered gem.

This 5-6 hours’ drive takes you through aver scenic route with striking plantations and the rolling hills all way through to the park, arrive late in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Full day game drive

After breakfast, drive off to Seronera valley in the central Serengeti, a point recommended for game viewing, this will be whole day with a break for lunch, have the chance of sighting the wild beast, Zebras, hyena, hippo, leopards, crocodile, Antelopes, and lots of savannah bird species including the ostrich, the largest bird in the world, and plant in this wilderness.

The experience is so unforgettable and comparable to any other anywhere. After enjoying your stay, and luck of citing any of your favorite game, drive back to the lodge for relaxation dinner and overnight. 

Day7: Transfer to Ngorongoro crater for game Viewing

Start your day with breakfast, pack your luggage and checkout of the lodge for an afternoon game viewing and sightseeing at Ngorongoro crater, drive through having some fascinating views, beautiful flowers, way through to the park, have lunch and refresh a bit before going to spot the endangered black Rhinos. This will be for about 5hours before returning to the lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 8: Transfer to Kilimanjaro international airport

After enjoying your morning Breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro international airport for your flight back home after the 8 days safari
