The 7-day Uganda Gorillas and Masai Mara Safari is a combination of Uganda’s celebrated mountain gorillas and Kenya’s wildlife. In 7 days the safari will expose you to the most visited national parks in both countries. You will have to visit gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and thereafter you will cross to Kenya’s celebrated Masai Mara which is the most visited national park. 

The safari will give you a touch of Ugandan culture which is for Batwa and Kenyan culture which is for Masai people. While on this safari, expect to encounter mountain gorillas in Bwindi, Africa’s big 5 which are; elephants, buffaloes, rhinos, lions and leopards. Other species to encounter are giraffes, cheetahs, bat-eared foxes, zebras, and antelopes among other species. This safari will start in Uganda and end in Kenya.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Pick-up and transfer to Bwindi

On this first day of your trip, our company representative will pick you up from the Airport/Hotel, brief you about the safari and then set off for Bwindi. You will drive via Kampala-Masaka highway with a stopover at the Equator at Kayabwe, take as many pictures and videos as you want, and embark on the journey.

 Lunch will be served in Mbarara and proceed to southwestern Uganda, arrive in the park in the late evening, and connect to the lodge for dinner and overnight. 

Day 2: Gorilla trekking and Batwa community walk

Unfold your day with breakfast, meet your driver guide and be transferred to the park headquarters for a briefing bout gorilla trekking etiquettes, you will be assigned a gorilla family to track and then head to the thick forests to search for gorillas. 

Gorilla trekking will you about 1 to 6 hours inclusive of an hour that you will spend with them, as you enjoy how they feed their young ones, watch them play and later, you return to the lodge, fresh up, have lunch and then head to the Batwa community.

 These are the shortest people in the world, they will welcome you with joyful songs and dances, and they will tell you ancient stories as well. At dusk, you will retire to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Check-out and transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe 

Arise in the morning, greet your intestines with a delicious breakfast, check out and transfer back to Kampala/Entebbe where you will board a flight to Nairobi the capital city of Kenya. This is another day for you to travel, lunch will be served in Mbarara and then proceed to Entebbe, arrive in the evening, check-in at the hotel and have an overnight.

Day 4: Fly to Nairobi and city tour

You wake up in the morning, enjoy a delicious breakfast and be transferred to the Airport for a flight to Nairobi, our driver representative will be waiting to receive you at the Airport.

 You will have to do a city tour, visit different markets and artisans and then retire to the hotel in Nairobi where you will spend overnight.

Day 5: Transfer to Masai Mara and game drive

You will wake up with a delicious breakfast, meet your driver guide and transfer to Masai Mara which is about a 5-hour drive from Nairobi. 

You will drive through the rolling hills of Kenya which are sparsely populated, you arrive in the park in time for lunch, check in the lodge, have lunch and then go for an evening game drive. 

Day 6: Full-day game drive in Masai Mara

This is another day where you will be exploring the beauty of Masai Mara.

 The park is made of endless plains that are decorated with huge sums of animal species, expect to encounter buffaloes, elephants, rhinos, lions and leopards and these are Africa’s big 5, you will enjoy the picnic lunch and if you visit the park in the dry season in June to September you will be lucky to see wildebeest migration.

 Wildebeests, zebras and gazelles migrate from Tanzania’s Serengeti to Masai Mara and this is the largest animal movement in the world and it attracts savanna predators such as lions, leopards, hyenas and cheetahs which come to make a kill.

Day 7: Game drive and departure

On the last leg of your trip, you will arise in the morning, enjoy a mouthwatering breakfast, check out and do a game drive in Masai Mara with chances to see some animal species that you might have missed in the previous day. 

You will thereafter visit Masai people who will welcome you with cheerful songs and dances, these people are far taller than the Batwa of Bwindi and they have different lifestyles, you will enjoy lunch in Nairobi and proceed to the airport to catch your flight back home or to other destinations.
