Situated in the southwestern part of Uganda in the district of Kisoro, Mgahinga National Park is the smallest national park in the country, yet the second most popular gorilla trekking destination. The small park covers about 33.9 square kilometers. Mgahinga was founded in 1991 and shelters only one gorilla family known as the Nyakagezi gorilla family.

Is it possible to do gorilla trekking in Mgahinga from Kabale?
Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga National Park from Kabale town is doable and easier as it takes only 2 hours from the busy town of Kabale to the destination. Upon reaching the destination, visitors shall be asked to present their valid gorilla trekking permits and travel documents before accessing and spending their good times with the endangered primate species of mountain gorillas.
Only a group of not exceeding eight visitors can visit the Nyakagezi gorilla family. The dry season gives the most stressful experience due to the easy accessibility of gorilla tracking trails.
