What to pack for cycling tours in Uganda?

  • Water bottle

It is as important as ever to keep hydrating the body to ensure that the energy levels of the traveler match the required standard while muscling up and down hills while on the bike trails.

  • Sun protection

As it is commonly known that the UV rays cause early aging in humans, it’s recommended for bikers to wear sun screens before attempting the adventure, and have a hat and sunglasses to protect them from anywhere that they are likely to face during the trail like sunshine, rain or hailstorm.

  • Portable first aid kit

Bikers need to have safety precautions to prevent them from meeting with fatal accidents but a small first aid kit can help in situations where the biker gets a small injury or meets up with an injured cyclist along the way.

  • Insurance

This is very useful in situations where the cyclist meets with a fatal accident. The insurance company will help cover all the hospital bills to see the individual get back to performing their normal duties.

  • Energy giving foods

These could be snacks, and drinks that the biker can swallow in order to maintain their energy levels to the required standard that will get them going to their destinations.

Mini pumps

This sounds like a bizarre thing to carry in a bag but it could be of very much importance in situations where a biker gets a flat tire.

  • Mobile phone

This is everyone’s personal property as it aids faster communication. Bikers should ensure that their phones are fully charged so that they contact the tour guides in case they get lost or encounter any challenges. This should also be carried so that the bikers make memories by taking photographs of fascinating species they come across while biking.

  • Headlights

While bikes usually don’t possess personal lights, it’s crucial for cyclists especially those interested in night biking to have lights with them so that they are viewed by other road users and be able to see where they are heading to.

  • Durable light bag

Of course, this is a must-have for all bikers because they will need somewhere to store their instruments like water, foodstuff and other property.

When to visit for biking

Travelers can book their bike tours as a stand alone or as a supplement activity while on any other safari. While a standalone bike safari can be undertaken at any time of the year, it is always better to have all safaris done during the dry season due to the nature of the environment like the roads becoming muddy and impassable.
