Safari Overview.
The 5 Days Gorillas & Culture Safari in Rwanda and Uganda will give you an amazing experience of having a face-to-face interaction with the great apes, mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and explore Rwanda. You will visit the historical dark side of Rwanda the genocide museum and on top of this, enjoy culture and beautiful scenery as you traverse the countryside to Akagera National park.

Tour Details.
Day 1-Arrival/Transfer to Akagera National park.
The driver shall be at Kigali Airport to pick you up from your flight. After the briefing by the guide, you do a city tour and visit some of Kigali’s craft markets to browse amongst the pottery, carvings, batik, weaving, sculpture, musical instruments, leather and fabrics on offer.
Prepare to use your haggling skills and visit the genocide memorial after which you will be transferred to Akagera National park.
Day 2-Game drive and boat cruise.
After a relaxed breakfast, you head to for an early morning game drive. The Park covers 2500 km² of savannah west of the Kagera River, in the northeast of Rwanda. The park has a variety of wildlife and has been up graded to a big five status by the introduction of rhinos and lions. It is also a habitat for over 500 different species of birds.
Enjoy the views of herds of elephants and buffalo as they emerge from the woodland to drink at the lakes, while you might come across a leopard, a spotted hyena or even a lion and rhinos. After the drive you will return to the lodge, have lunch and in the afternoon you will go for a boat safari on Lake Ihema where you will spot the many water birds like Cormorants, Fish eagles and kingfishers. After you will drive back to the lodge for dinner and overnight.
Day 3-Transfer to Bwindi NP.
Today after early breakfast, your guide will pick you at your lodge and thereafter, drive to Bwindi Impenetrable forest for the Gorilla tracking. You will enjoy views of the beautiful terraced hills and you will drive through a bamboo forest zone.
On a clear day, you can have great views of the Virunga Mountains. Arrive at the park check in as you await tomorrow’s activity of tracking mountain gorillas.
Day 4-Gorilla tracking and community tour.
After an early breakfast, you will be transferred to the park headquarters for briefing about gorilla tracking. You will enter the forest for tracking with a ranger guide and other members of your group till you get to encounter you allocated group of Bwindi’s endangered mountain gorillas. Bwindi Impenetrable national park boasts with not only mountain gorillas but it also hosts five other species of primates, 113 species of mammals, over 200 species of butterflies and 360 species of birds.
The gorillas you track are habituated and used to human presence but tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period, every day. The tracking can take 2 hours to as many as 7 hours. Once the gorillas you get to find the group that you are allocated, you will be allowed a maximum of one hour with them.
After tracking, return to the lodge, refresh and later in the evening walk through the communities and visit the Batwa who used to stay in the interior of the forest. From here return to the lodge to refresh, dinner and overnight.
Day 5-Transfer back to Kigali for departure.
After morning breakfast, drive to Kigali through the rolling hills of Kisoro. It is a very scenic drive through the mountains and hills in the region and traditional villages. You will cross the border and drive to Kigali. Your guide can drop you at the airport or at an accommodation facility in Kigali.
